Nepali-origin entrepreneur Aruna Adhikari launches US clinical technology company KairosHelix

KATHMANDU: Nepali-origin entrepreneur Aruna Adhikari has founded US-based clinical technology company KairosHelix to change how the life sciences industry captures, connects and applies knowledge from clinical trials.

The newly founded firm combines artificial intelligence, mathematics and evidence-based systems to help the sector reuse critical information from previous studies. KairosHelix is developing technology to convert accumulated clinical trial knowledge into actionable intelligence while emphasising the preservation of underlying evidence and human oversight in regulated, high-stakes research.

The company has built a 25-member team and a working clinical trial intelligence platform. It has begun commercial engagements with contract research organisations and biotechnology companies and has filed 11 provisional patent applications covering clinical trial planning, site recommendations, synthetic data and regulated artificial intelligence.

Clinical trials produce extensive volumes of protocols, reports, operational data and expert decisions, but this vital knowledge frequently remains fragmented across multiple systems. This restricts the ability of researchers and organisations to learn from past trials and apply those insights to future studies.

The company’s vision stems from Adhikari’s multidisciplinary background in mathematics, engineering, enterprise technology and clinical research. She left Nepal for the United States at the age of 16 and pursued interests across fields that brought her closer to the complexities of clinical research. In 2024, she was recognised in the ‘PharmaVOICE 100’ for her work in technology and artificial intelligence.

Adhikari’s experience led to the observation at the core of the company’s mission: while clinical trials systematically document what occurred, the reasoning behind critical decisions is not always recorded in a way that can be effectively reused.

By bridging this gap, KairosHelix aims to help the industry move towards a model in which knowledge from past trials can be systematically converted into intelligence for future research.
